JOAN AVERY Joan Avery graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in political science. She intended to go into the Foreign Service but when government cutbacks prevented that she began a fifteen-year career as an award-winning writer/producer for a national advertising agency. She won a Clio (the national advertising award) as well as numerous other awards for her work on accounts as diverse as Cadillac, Whirlpool, FTD and Pontiac. She “retired” from her career to devote more time to her children and write.
One of the great joys of Joan’s life is traveling. She and her husband have traveled extensively and Joan feels that travel expands her life and inspires her work. Some of her special places are Paris, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Worth Brothers’ Trilogy, from Entangled Publishing, takes place in three of her favorite locations: the American West, London and the Caribbean Island of Grenada. Joan finds a fine thread of humanity common to everywhere she’s been. Her books capture that as they embrace all of life’s events: births, deaths and most importantly loves.
